Usually, business plans are composed of four main sections; namely the marketing aspect, the technical aspect, the financial aspect, and the operations aspect. But the first part of a business plan is usually the marketing plan, because this gives businessmen an overview of whether the business has potential or not. For this reason, the marketing aspect is an essential part in developing any kind of business plan because this ensures that market research has been conducted and there was a positive feedback in developing the potential business.
The marketing aspect usually includes your plan about how to price the product, how to promote the product and where to sell the product. You should also include a section that describes the different strategies you can use to sell your product to your customers. Even your distribution plan and the packaging you will use for your product should be included. You should also be able to define your target market and your competitiveness in the industry. Conducting the Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, and Threats (SWOT) analysis is also important in having an effective marketing plan. You will know your competitive edge in the market once you have defined the four essential aspects. Your marketing plan should also focus on the uniqueness of your product compared to other similar products that are available in the market. In line with this, you should give a full description of the physical features of your product including its benefits to the customers. If you are interested in creating a niche market for your products then it is also important that you concentrate on making your products different from mass produced products and provide high quality products to your customers. If you have researched the marketability of your product thoroughly then you can estimate the projected supply and demand for your product accurately. You should note that if the demand for your product in a particular area were already saturated, it would be very difficult for you to penetrate that market because you will need to take customers away from existing competitors. Your competitors will not be willing to give up their customers, so you may experience losses if your competitor suddenly decides to cut their prices. You may need to follow their lead, because you are a new entrant to the market. But most importantly, the marketing plan is important because this is where you will know the different ways to effectively communicate with your customers. This will enable you to have a promotion and advertising campaign that will make your customers take notice of benefits that your product offers and buy the products that you are offering. Ultimately, the marketing aspect is probably the most important aspect in creating a business plan because this encompasses all the other aspects. For example - the technical and operations plan will rely on how effective your marketing plan is. If the projected demand for the product is high, then the production will also be high. Likewise, if the demand for your product is quite low, then the production will follow accordingly. Article Source: Business Plan Guide This article has been viewed 648 times. Add to Del.icio.us |
